Airbnb to launch AI travel agent in early 2027
The marketplace says its custom AI will guide booking, support and trip‑planning with visual interfaces, not just chat.

Airbnb announced it will roll out a dedicated AI travel agent in the first half of 2027, according to TechCrunch. The company says the agent will use a library of travel‑specific UI components, maps, photos, calendars and itineraries, to answer queries, rather than relying on a text‑only chatbot.
CEO Brian Chesky told analysts the new AI is meant for the aspirational side of travel, noting that 80% of travellers enjoy researching trips. The agent will also handle post‑booking tasks such as reservation changes, refunds and safety support, something he said generic agents cannot do well.
Why it matters to your business
For operators, the AI could streamline customer service, reducing the need for staff to handle routine booking changes and support tickets. That may lower labour costs and improve response times.
The visual, UI‑driven approach could boost conversion by keeping users in a richer, more engaging planning experience, potentially increasing booking values for hosts and experiences.
What to do in your business tomorrow
- Audit your current booking support flow and identify repetitive tasks that could be handed to an AI.
- Start a pilot with a third‑party AI tool that offers visual components to gauge guest response before Airbnb’s rollout.
- Work with your tech team to map data permissions so future integrations with Airbnb’s AI can be secure and compliant.
