Tyro has named Christina Keing as its permanent chief information security officer, iTnews reports. She started earlier this week, replacing Arun Singh who left in July after a year in the role.

Keing comes from Deloitte, where she spent almost nine years and most recently led global and APAC cloud security architecture and engineering. Her background also includes security architecture roles at NAB and Seek.

In a statement to iTnews, Keing said her initial focus will be "harnessing AI to strengthen Tyro's cyber defences, staying ahead of emerging threats and embedding security into everything we do."

Why it matters to your business

Founders and operators rely on secure payment platforms. A CISO who prioritises AI‑driven security can help protect merchant data and maintain trust, which is vital for retaining customers.

With cyber threats becoming more automated, Tyro’s move signals to the market that it is investing in advanced defences, potentially reducing the risk of costly breaches for its users.

What to do on Monday

  1. Review your own security roadmap to see if AI tools can improve threat detection.
  2. Check that your payment provider has a clear, senior‑level security lead and a strategy for emerging threats.
  3. Schedule a brief audit of your data protection controls before the end of the week.
